ATLANTA — Georgia officials are preparing to spend more than $30 million to buy land and build parking for the new stadium that would be home to the Atlanta Falcons.

Gov. Nathan Deal is expected to approve a budget this month that includes a $17 million parking deck, a project made public days before the legislative session ended.

Records obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution show that state officials also could spend $16.3 million on land for the site.

Critics say the stadium project has many hidden costs, and they object to the way public funds are being used to build the stadium.

Public officials and team executives say the project will enhance the state-owned Georgia World Congress Center nearby, and the parking deck will be used for other events as well.

H-E- double hockey sticks NO!

Let the home depot man finance it himself; or Fulton County. They are the ones reaping the benefits, not people in Ludowici.

DEAL: If there was any doubt before, YOU DO NOT HAVE MY VOTE!

I'll contribute

I am no longer a resident of Georgia so the only tax money of mine that stays in the state is the sales tax when I visit. If the Falcons can win a Super Bowl then I would mail them a check as a contribution.

PS - Please do this before I die.

That's the way it always is,

That's the way it always is, they get the hook in and then they bleed the taxpayer for more money. Glad Augusta didn't build a new baseball stadium.

Getting rich

Lots of folks and politicians are going to get rich off this DEAL. The taxpayers always get the &$#@#+ end of the stick. This is what happens when folks do not vote.
