WHERE: The edge of New Savannah Road at Laney-Walker Boulevard

WHAT: Trash strewn along the right-of-way

WHO’S RESPONSIBLE: Once the litter is reported, the Richmond County Marshal’s Office attempts to determine who left it there. If no litterer is identified, Augusta Environmental Services is in charge of cleanup.

ACTION PROMISED: None. Augusta officials including Administrator Fred Russell and Environmental Services Director Mark Johnson did not respond to inquiries Friday.

Deputy Environmental Services Director Lori Videtto said the litter was too far off the road to reach with a street sweeper, but if no one was deemed responsible for the trash, her department is responsible for cleanup.

I suspect you will get more

I suspect you will get more no contacts on things to come. To far off the road for a street sweeper might be right. How ever the sheriff's department surely could send some trustees out to pick this up.

Owner

When passers-by throw trash on the right-of-way of my suburban yard, I am the one responsible to pick it up. They don't feel that way down on Laney Walker. It's the gummint's job.

3 weeks ago a problem was pointed out here in the AC.

that still has gone uncorrected on the SouthSide.
The needed Yellow Paint and a few reflectors on a Large Raised Concrete Traffic Island in front of Apple Valley on Hwy56 .

This raised Island is being repeatedly struck by vehicles thinking the traffic lane continues to I-520, due to the misleading signs and road arrow markings.

If the RCDOT is too busy to fix SOUTH SIDE Issues just say so.

Just provide the South Side Volunteers the Traffic Paint, some Glue and a few reflectors and they will do it themselves.

BTW: There is always LOWE's if ARC will not take care of Dangerous or Hazardous issues on the South Side.
