A telephone service outage affected several city of Augusta departments Thursday, including the 311 customer service line.

Reached by phone, Augusta 311 Manager Kelli Walker said intermittent outages were reported at numerous city departments, including 311, but officials were working with carrier AT&T to correct the problem, she said. By 3:30 p.m., the outages, which affected external but not internal city phone calls, had stopped, but officials were still working to ascertain the cause of the problem, city Deputy Administrator and IT Director Tameka Allen said.
