The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office will soon ride on gyroscopic Segways, compliments of the Clean Augusta Downtown Initiative.

CADI “clean ambassadors” rode the Segways and bikes during a five-year contract that expired last year, but its board of directors voted in July to disperse CADI’s remaining assets for use downtown.

The two Segways have been repaired and are ready for action, said Robert Kuhar, a CADI board member.

The board has planned a 2 p.m. ceremony Thursday at Augusta Common to transfer the equipment to the sheriff’s office.

Good idea

Good idea. Richmond County has one of the finest sheriff's departments in the state even with the short funding. This should help provide men on the street. I just want to know how they are going to throw the bad guy on the back and take him to jail.

RCSO will likely need

to refit them for RCSO duty.
heavy duty batteries,
Heavy duty shocks.
Shotgun holder,
Coffee cup / doughnut holder,
Lasso or Teen runner capture net,
add a NEW RCSO / Roundtree decal.

All joking aside what is the ARC policy regarding
the use of Segways on sidewalk?
