Augusta Commissioner Alvin Mason announced his intention to run for mayor in 2014 at his District 4 quarterly breakfast Saturday.

Mason won reelection to his second four-year term for the District 4 seat in 2010 and has been selected mayor pro tem twice. After winning two consecutive terms to the commission, Mason is not eligible to run for re-election.

Job?

Then just leave your Public Servant job and go back to the job that you used to pay your day-in, day-out bills. Quietly.

"Mayor Mason......I think we predicted this during the Sheriffs race."

I think we all knew this when EVERYONE went so far out of their way to NOT arrest him for wife abuse and THEN everyone worked so diligently to insure he got a free PASS.

You....me......we would have been IN THE SLAMMER THAT NIGHT. No matter what else happened afterwards, WE would have been hauled to jail that night. Apparently the fix is in and he has already been ordained.

Grumpy

Yeah, I didn't get much sleep last night, so I'm a little grumpy this morning. I made that post before coffee. I agree with you, Austin.

Just what we need:

A disfunctional commissioner becoming a disfunctional mayor.

LL - I have had 3 cups of coffee

I too am sure she will be safe from any accidental bumps.

Less we forget
"The charges stem from a Dec. 23 incident at Mason’s Hephzibah residence in which his wife told deputies he grabbed her by the neck and pushed her against the wall during a dispute. Deputies responding to Velma Mason’s 911 call saw redness and a small cut on her neck, according to an incident report."

BTW: HE WAS NOT FOUND INNOCENT THE CHARGES WERE DROPPED

Entertinment on the radio.

Entertainment on the radio. That is all it is. Not the definitive answer. But I sure would not vote for Mason. He is too too arrogant and I do not think he has the smarts for the job.

The city of Augusta voted for

The city of Augusta voted for Deke Copenhaver in two straight elections. Augusta is the 4th best city to live in, and 2nd in terms of high tech job growth.

Augusta doesn't need a black mayor to survive, and there's already plenty of hope for Augusta.

Why do people act like Starbucks is building $172 million facilities all over the US?

The people who live in the surrounding counties are the one's who mostly bring up race on this forum if you notice.

Dichotomy. I hate to break it to you, but Alvin Mason lives off Willis Foreman rd in South Augusta. The area is not the older part of South Augusta either, and he's very close to the rural parts of South Augusta(south of Tobacco rd along Mike Padgett/Peach Orchard/Deans Bridge).
