House committee assignments for Georgia state Reps. Barbara Sims and Barry Fleming have been announced.
Sims, an Augusta Republican, was named chairwoman of the Information and Audits Committee and secretary of the Economic Development and Tourism Committee.
Fleming, a Harlem Republican, was named secretary of the Interstate Cooperation Committee and was assigned to the Governmental Affairs; Industry and Labor; and Judiciary committees.
Sims was also assigned to the Appropriations; Health and Human Services; Rules; Science and Technology; and Transportation committees.
Sims served as deputy House whip for six years. Her new office is in the Capitol.
“I appreciate the confidence Speaker (David) Ralston and the Committee on Assignments has shown in selecting me for this leadership role,” Sims said in a news release. “I look forward to better serving the CSRA in this new position, as well as through my continued service on my other committees.”
