State Reps. Barbara Sims, Barry Fleming receive House assignments

House committee assignments for Georgia state Reps. Barbara Sims and Bar­ry Fleming have been announced.

Sims, an Augusta Repub­lican, was named chairwoman of the Information and Au­dits Committee and secretary of the Economic De­velop­ment and Tourism Com­mit­tee.

Fleming, a Harlem Repub­li­can, was named secretary of the Interstate Coop­er­ation Com­mit­tee and was assigned to the Governmental Affairs; Industry and Labor; and Judiciary committees.

Sims was also assigned to the Appropriations; Health and Hu­man Services; Rules; Science and Technology; and Transportation committees.

Sims served as deputy House whip for six years. Her new office is in the Capitol.

“I appreciate the confidence Speaker (David) Ralston and the Com­mittee on Assign­ments has shown in selecting me for this leadership role,” Sims said in a news release. “I look forward to better serving the CSRA in this new position, as well as through my continued service on my other committees.”
