Augusta Commissioner Bill Lockett was recognized in Atlanta over the weekend with a certificate of excellence for completing advanced leadership training sponsored by the Georgia Municipal Association.
“Training was great,” the retired federal and school system employee said. “Every class I’ve taken, I’ve learned something.”
Lockett joined Commissioner Jerry Brigham to become only the second sitting Augusta commissioner to complete the advanced training, a GMA spokeswoman said.
The recognition came at the end of the three-day Robert E. Knox Leadership Institute for Elected Officials sponsored by GMA and the University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government.
Lockett completes his first term as District 5 commissioner this year.
It would be nice if he were not re-elected to a second term.
I think it is great when anyone in a leadership position furthers their training and education, especially when it is not mandatory.
I certainly hope he learned something that he can bring back and use to benefit our area.
We just hope the taxpayer didn't pay expenses and travel!!!!!!!!!! But I am sure we did!!
I think Mr. Lockett will use all that he learned. He is one of the best commissioners we currently have and is trying very hard to do the work of the people.
Congratulations Mr. Lockett on completing the advanced leadership training. Thanks for your devout dedication to serving the people and doing what is ethically and morally sound.
Bad news for the "'business' as usual" crowd at The Marble Palace and at MC corporate headquarters.
