A total of 369 gallons of cooking oil was collected during the CSRA Used Cooking Oil Recycling Event.

The two-day event collected 234 gallons from Columbia County Water Utility and 135 gallons from Augusta Utilities, said Pam Tucker, the Columbia County emergency and operations director.

The utility departments collected “used oil that could have potentially ended up in the sewer system or storm drains,” she said in an e-mail.
