A new youth baseball field that can be used for softball is among the improvements coming to North Augusta's Riverview Park in 2012. It should be ready this spring.

Some of the improvements include three new score towers, two new playgrounds and a new youth baseball field that can be used for softball. The $6 million renovation is being completed by R.D. Brown Contractors.

Other Sales Tax II projects on the list to be completed include: Public Safety Station 3; intersection improvements at Five Notch and Pisgah roads, Heil Drive and Georgia Avenue and Walnut Lane at Highway 25, according to John Potter, the director of finance for the City of North Augusta.

Todd Glover will take over as city administrator Jan. 3. He previously served three years as assistant Aiken County administrator.

Mayor Lark Jones said a goal will be to continue to “provide the same level of service in times of challenging revenues.”

He also said the city plans to begin development of the commercial district in Hammond’s Ferry as well as a waterfront park in the community.
