U.S. Congressman Paul Broun announced today that he intends to seek re-election for Georgia’s 10th Congressional District.

Broun’s district once included much of the Augusta area, but redrawn lines eliminated large chunks of that territory.

“I knew that Georgia’s dramatic population growth would require the (Georgia) General Assembly to create an additional congressional district and that the boundaries of the 10th District would change,” Broun, a Republican, said in a press release. “While I very much regret losing some of the areas of the district, I am pleased to see that it will retain a portion of the CSRA, University of Georgia, the Lake Oconee region, and other vibrant communities that I have been privileged to serve.”

Broun is up for re-election next year.

Broun is a joke and has done a horrible job representing the district. His ideological beliefs are much more important to him than the welfare of his constituents (he actually wanted to lower the debt limit). He cant keep his own life in order (bankruptcies, kids are repeat felons, been married four times, can’t practice medicine any more) much less ours. I will vote for ANY democrat, republican, or independent that runs against him.

@virgil: Dang, you stole my thoughts. Ditto on all points. He's totally useless and irresponsible. Hopefully, there is someone out there we can vote in and get rid of this idiot for good.

Broun has been better than

Broun has been better than 99% of the other Congressman. And, when I see liberals on here saying that we should "throw the bum out", that makes me think that he must be doing a good job for our Freedom and our nation. Clearly he's not toeing the "obama" line. Which is a good thing.

The new Congressional

The new Congressional districts have a big impact on the CSRA - Columbia County in particular - as it has been split into 2 districts. I would love a map showing us the changes. Has there been one published in the Chronicle?

Thanks Sean. I'd love to see a close up map of Columbia County. I seem to be right on the line. Is there one?

Those are the only ones I've seen. I'm sure there is one that breaks it down on the street level, but I haven't seen it.
PPF requests for maps go to tonya.cooper@legis.ga.gov. She may be able to help. They also give this phone number 404-656-5063.

For what it's worth, I'm a die-hard conservative republican. I just don't like nor do I trust Paul Broun. Most of it is because of what Virgil outlined above. He doesn't know what he's doing and thinks he is entitled to a political seat because he can't practice medicine and it's an easy paycheck for him.
We need someone who ie going to lookout for our (Augusta area's) best interest. Not Athens'.

Broun did the right thing in

Broun did the right thing in the budget fight. That is THE important issue for now and the next generation. He is an eleventh-hour convert I think, but I will take an eleventh-hour conversion as opposed to doing the same thing Congress has been doing for the past forty years.

When I read the rabid lefties on this forum's bile, if I were on the fence, I would know to throw my support to him.

What a fantastic Leader! I

What a fantastic Leader! I am so happy that we have a voice of reason and logic in Washington. If only we could have a Paul/Broun ticket or a Broun/Paul or a Bachmann/Broun or Broun/Bachmann. Keep up the great work Paul and thanks for standing up for our Constitution. I'll work hard to help your campaign and I'll work harder against the evil bums who are left.
