Former Augusta superintendent named to top job in Richmond, Va., schools

  • Follow Education

Former Richmond County school superintendent Dana Bedden was named Sunday as the top school official in Richmond, Va., according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch newspaper.

Bedden, 47, left Augusta in 2010 to become the superintendent in Irving, Texas, where he resigned this summer over the “philosophical direction” of that school district.

According to the newspaper, Bedden and an assistant superintendent in Gwinnett County, Ga., were finalists for the job, which started with 76 candidates.

Bedden was Richmond County’s superintendent for three years.

My voice... Probably because he was moving the RCBOE forward and somehow we couldn't keep him in Augusta...

Dr. Roberson seems to be dedicated but he needs to move on with the health problems..

It amazes me how Augusta

It amazes me how Augusta looses/ fire people, but always seems to track their progress or location afterwards. Why not keep them and you wouldnt have to spend time assuming and wondering how they are doing, or where they are at?

have hired beverly hall from Fulton county. She needs a job. She should be mopping floors in a federal prison because of her "philosophical" differences concerning education. She would be a great cabinet member for massa obama as both have great difficulty with being honest and truthful.

He's got all these school districts

on his resume and will stay at one for a couple of years and move on to another one that wants to be "progressive" and pay him 20% more than what he was making. When he gets to be about 60 he will have himself about 2 million in the bank and a few school districts left scratching their empty heads. He knows how to play the game......just like Ronnie Few some years back......

He didn't do much in Augusta

He didn't do much in Augusta. Anything after Charles Larke would seem fantastic. Dr. Robertson has that thing about him where no one wants to let him down.
