The Charms of Ireland will be a family-friendly event with Irish fairy tales, ghost stories and music around a campfire, according to Debra Van Tuyll, a professor in the Department of Communications and Professional Writing.
“We’ve chosen stories that won’t be scary for little kids but that are interesting enough for adults,” Van Tuyll said in an e-mail.
The event will take place in the walled quadrangle at the back of the Summerville campus behind the admissions building. Admission is $5 for those over 12 but a maximum of $15 for families of four or more. Students can attend at no cost with a JAG card.
Van Tuyll said proceeds will go towards scholarships for students participating in a three-week study abroad trip to Ireland in the summer.
