Enrollment for the summer semester at Georgia Regents University’s Summerville campus has dipped for the third year in a row, with numbers being slightly skewed this year by a change in the bachelor of science in nursing program.

As of Friday, there are 2,438 students taking summer classes on the Summerville campus. That is compared to the 2,724 in 2012 and 3,171 in 2011 at the then-Augusta State University.

Although the nursing program was a part of then-ASU and reflected in 2011 and 2012 enrollment, it joined the health sciences campus of GRU after consolidation. The summer 2013 enrollment does not include nursing students, who are also not holding summer courses this year, according to senior media relations coordinator Jennifer Hilliard Scott.

The health sciences campus saw an increase in summer activity this year, with 1,780 students compared to 1,667 in 2012 and 1,728 in 2011.

I think it's because the school's name is now so gru-esome and ugly.
