Augusta Exchange Club Youth of the Year Nina McCallie poses for a picture with Tat Thompson of the club.

Nina McCallie was named The Augusta Exchange Club’s Youth of the Year at Thursday’s awards banquet.

The daughter of Nina and Alex McCallie, she has a 4.0 grade point average and excels in several endeavors including as an AP scholar, an officer in the National Honor Society and as 2012 cross country region champ.

The Westminster student will go on to compete against other Youth of the Year scholars in the district competition. She was chosen from among the club’s Youth of the Month winners. These included Brandon Brown, ARC; Caroline McManus, Aquinas; Laura Shipman, Greenbrier; Baotram Van, Davidson; Paul Walton, Harlem; and Patricia Kirpatrick, Westside.

Congratulations Nina!

My daughter was a cross country athlete and she is currently defending her dissertation for a Doctorate in Education! Keep up the good work!

Oh, by the way, she's 28 and still running!
