Officials planning the consolidation of Augusta’s two state universities are seeking input on selecting the new school’s logo and color scheme.

More than 46,000 people – alumni, staffers and students – were sent surveys by e-mail Friday, asking them to select, from the choices given, a logo, colors and a seal for Georgia Regents University.

The school – a consolidation of Augusta State University and Georgia Health Sciences University – is expected to be approved by the Georgia Board of Regents on Jan. 8.

David L. Brond, the senior vice president of communications and marketing at GHSU, said the survey results will carry 100 percent of the weight in deciding the final designs and colors.

Each of the three logo designs incorporate “GRU” and “Augusta” in the design. The survey also offered two options for color schemes, each including the current shade of blue used by ASU.

“The secondary colors are either going to be a silver gray or a red,” depending on survey results, Brond said.

He said the survey was done “in-house” using online marketing tools, so there were no additional costs involved.

“This was not something we wanted to have a market research firm do,” he said.

Brond said the survey will be completed Wednesday and results will be announced no later than Thursday.

“Whichever one has the most votes, then that’s the one that will be selected,” Brond said.

WHY BOTHER

If it is like the last survey, it is meaningless, because the GRU (aka President AZZZ) has already made up his mind and is just toying with us.

For ANY trust to be placed in the process at this point it would take a 3rd party or each respondent CC:'ing the AC a copy of their suggestion.

Otherwise, and I don't think I am speaking for myself,
I DON"T TRUST THEM.

Here we go again!

How much is this going to cost? Another 45 thousand? Just to get to something that is not even being considered? Why not print the real stuff that has already been chosen? By the way - this stuff is ALL ugly and IMO looks like a poopy skid mark left on Augusta.

Well, that's a switch. Heh. It's almost like Brond is getting in a little dig at Azziz. But it's silly to think the colors should be anything but the current ASU colors.

"WHY BOTHER" Exactly. IGNORE

"WHY BOTHER"

Exactly. IGNORE the survey. I hope their response is ZERO. Ayatolla Azizz is going to pick what he wants anyway. He has such great tastes in names, might as well let him pick the logo and colors to match.

This is like Obama saying "Now that I've raised your taxes, which new welfare program should we create to spend them on".

Laughing

You know Dr. Azziz is laughing at the people who got that E-mail survey. He's doing this phony poll as payback for putting those "Save the A" signs in his front yard.

" But it's silly to think...

... the colors should be anything but the current ASU colors."

It's silly to think they haven't already decided the colors and the logo AND that any input from the citizenry will make the slightest difference in the final decision.

Why have we thrown in the towel on the name "GRU" anyway?

WHAT??? A survey?? Really?? Oh, we all know that the decision is already been made, so why should anyone even bother to complete the survey? It really is ridiculous.

The survey may have been done

The survey may have been done "in house" but I'm betting the farm that the design of the logo was not done by MCG's art and design department. I am sure they paid a handsome design fee to some firm, most probably not from Augusta, and most probably from ATL.

So they are letting people go

So they are letting people go at GRU -having to cut back. I guess it really does take millions to change brand names-again. Right here at christmas is just a wonderful time to lose your job at GRU. But don't worry they will be postin' some new jobs too-likely the expansion in research positions to bring in the bucks. Too bad few americans will be able to fill these positions but jobs are jobs for the area. No raises in sight again-it takes a lot of money to change brand names-I almost forgot.
