Save the A group incorporates texting in campaign

The group pushing to replace Georgia Regents University with University of Augusta as the name for the consolidated Augusta State and Georgia Health Sciences universities is incorporating texting in its “Save the A” campaign.

In addition to the existing petition at savethea.org, petitioners can now text “savethea” followed by their name to 91011 to add their name to the petition, according to a news release from the group. The service is free outside of normal texting charges.

“The civic pride of the citizens of Augusta, the CSRA and beyond is being heard throughout Georgia as a result of over 10,000 names on the petition to date,” said Nick Evans, who is spearheading the effort. “The addition of a texting campaign makes it easy for anyone to add their name to what has become a rallying call for the University of Augusta.”
