New Bethlehem Community Center is accepting applications for its after-school tutoring and mentoring program for pupils.

The Kid Power program is from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Students in K5 kindergarten through eighth grade can attend. Tutoring will focus on math, reading and science.

The program begins Aug. 13.

The Kid Power costs $35 a month, plus a $25 registration fee, or a $20 fee for each additional child in a family. Dinner is included daily.

To register, the parent must provide a photo ID, income information and proof of guardianship of the child, such as the child’s Social Security card.

Registration forms are available at the center, at 1336 Conklin Ave., and will be accepted through August. For more information, call (706) 722-0086.

There we go with those pesky photo ID's

again. Don't they realize that this is disenfranchisement at its worse. Photo ID"S an prove of residency have been scientifically roved to be demeaning and create a negative environment. Stop the lunacy of Photo ID's and requirements of residency. Nip it in the bud. What is this some third world country where you have to have identification to live?

Photo ID

Doesn't New Bethlehem Community Center know that requiring a photo ID "suppresses minority access" to these services. New Bethlehem Community Center is thereby engaging in discriminatory practices. This must be stopped!
