The award is given annually to area students achieving the highest score on the SAT while academically ranking in the top 10 percent in their classes.
Bollag and Patel both scored a 2350 on the SAT out of a possible 2400. They previously tied for the Columbia County STAR Student award during a February ceremony in Harlem.
Each year, STAR Students choose an educator who greatly influenced their academic careers to be STAR Teachers.
Bollag chose Lakeside High math teacher Lilly Good. Patel picked math teacher Jerry Meitin.
All four now qualify for the state STAR Student and Teacher competition to be announced next month in Atlanta.
Other Region 7 counties competing for the honor were Burke, Glascock, Hancock, Jefferson, Jenkins, Johnson, Lincoln, McDuffie, Richmond, Taliaferro, Warren, Washington and Wilkes.
