The Armed Forces Family Foundation and Taco Bell donated $36,700 to Freedom Park Elementary School for the purchase of a laptop cart for the middle grades, according to a news release.

The school will hold an appreciation program for the donors Thursday at 10 a.m. in the media center followed by a tour to watch the middle school students using the laptops.

Taco Bell representatives will also provide tacos for the middle school students after the program.

This is the second year the two organizations contributed to Freedom Park. Last year the school used donated funds from the groups to purchase a netbook cart, according to the release.

Just like the bus cameras.

Just like the bus cameras. The bid was for something like $1200 a shot. I could do it for 2/3 of that and make money.

I guess the cart is to make

I guess the cart is to make the laptops user friendly by adding a free-standing larger monitor, a separated full-size keyboard, and a mouse with a rolling ball. In short, it is to make the laptops like tower systems!

Why did they not just buy tower systems in the first place?

(M)y.voice, (R)esident, and (I)t'sanotherday1,

Do BOEs tend to pay "top dollar" for the things that they buy?

How many $200 toilet seats do local boards of education have laying around?

Hope they fair better than the two carts we had. Kids would drop them, rearrange the keyboard, steal keys off the keyboard, change the desktop screen, and so many other fun things.
