After almost nine months of medical leave, Richmond County Schools Superintendent Frank Roberson will be a guest speaker at the 2012 Teacher of the Year banquet tonight, according to school board President Alex Howard.

The banquet will be Roberson’s first school-related appearance since he became ill. Roberson underwent emergency brain surgery in February because of a previously undetected arteriovenous malformation, or an abnormal cluster of blood vessels on the brain.

Roberson still has not announced when he will return to lead the school system.

Howard said Roberson will say a few words at the banquet and be honored as a special guest.

The banquet is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Augusta Marriott on 10th Street.

What a comeback when it was

What a comeback when it was reported in the media by some that he wasn't going to survive.

Good point, Riverman. Just to

Good point, Riverman. Just to be clear, I want to point out that the Chronicle never reported that Dr. Roberson wasn't going to survive or was never coming back.
We reported what was given to us by the school system and the family.
