South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Mathematics taking applications

The South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics in Hartsville is accepting applications from current high school sophomores through March 1.

Governor’s School is a public, residential high school specializing in science, technology, engineering and math. Beyond its specialized curriculum, The school also offers other opportunities, including the Summer Program for Research Interns, the Research Exchange Scholars Program and January Interim. These programs provide students with scientific, graduate-level internships, study-abroad experiences and options to participate in nontraditional courses. The school’s BlueCross BlueShield Economics and Finance Institute, offers classes and experiences in business and entrepreneurship.

Students applying must be South Carolina residents, have a PSAT score of at least 110, at least a 3.5 grade-point average, be on track to take the High School Assesssment Program exam the end of this school year, and complete geometra, algebra I and II, English II and a lab science by the end of the school year.
