Augusta Technical College recently announced it will be part of a group of colleges that will receive $23.5 million in U.S. Department of Energy grants over the next five years.

“One of the greatest strengths our community has with regards to recruiting new businesses and helping local businesses expand is undoubtedly our innovative base of institutions of higher learning.” Mayor Deke Copenhaver said. “Augusta Tech has long been recognized as one of the finest technical colleges in the state, and this well-deserved competitive grant award underscores their commitment to ongoing cutting edge educational initiatives.”

When I hear about the federal

When I hear about the federal government giving millions to something, I always get the feel it's not real money. I mean they can just print up what they want and pass it out? Is that the same stuff we worry over so much in local government and in our personal lives? Can't be.
