Murphey pupil suspended after bringing BB gun to school

  • Follow Education

A Murphey Middle Charter School pupil was suspended for the rest of the school year after bringing an unloaded BB gun to school on Sept. 2, according to a Richmond County tribunal finding recently made public.

No bullets were found in an ensuing search. The pupil, identified only by the initials Q.D., was given the option to attend the Tubman Education Center Alternative Program in lieu of long-term suspension. Leniency was shown because of the pupil’s age, grade and past good record, according to Sept. 16 tribunal finding.

BB guns hold bb's, not

BB guns hold bb's, not bullets.

By the way, how much did the tribunal hearings on 9/16 cost the RCBOE? How is the CCBOE able to conduct its tribunal hearings less expensively?

Craig, a bb could be

Craig, a bb could be dangerous, though not life-threatening. He had no business bringing it to school.

stillamazed....probably just

stillamazed....probably just showing his new toy off to his buddies. I take it because of his past good record that's probably all it was. Parents that buy these things for their kids need to pack them safely away when not in use, and teach them how, where, and when to shoot them.
