Murphey pupil suspended after bringing BB gun to school

A Murphey Middle Charter School pupil was suspended for the rest of the school year after bringing an unloaded BB gun to school on Sept. 2, according to a Richmond County tribunal finding recently made public.

No bullets were found in an ensuing search. The pupil, identified only by the initials Q.D., was given the option to attend the Tubman Education Center Alternative Program in lieu of long-term suspension. Leniency was shown because of the pupil’s age, grade and past good record, according to Sept. 16 tribunal finding.
