Authorities not sure whether Cooney Circle shootings are related

Authorities are not sure whether two shootings on Cooney Circle last weekend were related.

On Saturday, Richmond County sheriff’s deputies were called to 1806 Cooney Circle about 10:20 p.m. after a report that shots had been fired.

Brittney McKie, 25, was found lying facedown in the doorway, bloodied and unresponsive, according to a police incident report. She had been shot at least four times. McKie was alert when she was taken to AU Medical Center, authorities said.

Her condition has not been made public.

Nearly 12 hours later, at 9 a.m. Sunday, deputies found Marion Terry unresponsive after being shot once in the 1900 block of Cooney Circle.

He was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:30 a.m. by Chief Deputy Coroner Kenneth Boose.

Officials have not yet released which part of Terry’s body was shot. A police incident report released Tuesday lists “murder” as the offense.
