Augusta man convicted of child molestation sentenced to life in prison

  • Follow Crime & courts

An Augusta man convicted of sexually molesting an intellectually challenged girl was sentenced Friday to life in prison.

A Richmond County Superior Court jury convicted Travis S. Hill, 35, of aggravated sexual battery and two counts of child molestation at the conclusion of a five-day trial.

Having offered Hill several plea negotiations that would have taken the possibility of a life sentence off the table in exchange for sparing a 14-year-old girl for testifying, Assistant District Attorney Audrey Lewis sought the maximum sentence Friday.

Because Hill had two previous felony convictions — possession of marijuana in 1998 and aggravated assault in 2003 — Judge James G. Blanchard Jr. had to impose the maximum sentence for aggravated sexual battery.

In addition to be a perverted predator,

Mr. Hill is just plain stupid. He's sure to enjoy prison.

I agree, smallchange. These

I agree, smallchange. These predators are incapable of being cured of their propensities. They need to go away for life and have done to them what they have done to the innocents.

CRIME
Unpublished

Any person convicted of molesting or harming a child or senior should get life in prison. If they're capable of abusing the helpless then they're too much of a danger to be allowed to ever walk the streets again.
