Fatal motorcycle crash victim named

A 55-year-old man was killed Friday after he lost control of his motorcycle on Gun Range Road in Aiken, officials said.

Willis L. Purvis was returning home about 1 p.m. on his 2007 Suzuki D1000 when he lost control and was ejected, according to a statement from Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton said.

Purvis, described as an experienced motorcyclist, died from body trauma. He was not wearing a helmet, South Carolina Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Judd Jones said.

A toxicology report is pending. The accident is being investigated by the the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the coroner’s office.

It doesn't matter how

It doesn't matter how experienced a motorcyclist is, there are two kinds of motorcycle riders- those who have been seriously injured, and those who haven't been seriously injured YET.

So sad, my prayers are with the family.
