An Augusta man who pleaded guilty to the sexual abuse of two girls was sentenced Thursday to 25 years in prison.

Phillip J. Arceneaux, 43, pleaded guilty in Richmond County Superior Court to aggravated sexual battery, child molestation and attempted child molestation. In addition to the prison term, Arceneaux will remain on probation for the remainder of his life once released.

Arceneaux was charged in Richmond County following a report in 2013 that he sexually assaulted a young teen girl. After that report was made public, a second girl reported similar sexual abuse by Arceneaux had occurred in 2011, Assistant District Attorney Garon Muller told Judge James G. Blanchard Jr., who accepted the plea negotiation.
