  • Follow Crime & courts

A former inmate at the Augusta State Medical Prison who broke a guard’s nose pleaded guilty Thursday to aggravated battery.

Donte D. Carter, 29, pleaded guilty in Richmond County Superior Court. He was sentenced to five years in prison, to be followed by five years on probation for the May 12, 2012, assault.

Carter, who is now in Valdosta State Prison, is still serving a 20-year prison term for a 2010 armed robbery in Laurens County.

This idiot should have been tuned up by the other guards to serve notice that you better not touch a guard. The sentence will never be carried out and to give a career criminal probation is just an exercise on stupidity.
