A man was arrested Sunday after he was discovered with more than 400 bootleg DVDs during a traffic stop.

Richmond County sheriff’s Sgt. Monica Belser said an officer pulled over Demetries Banks, 42, about 10:45 p.m. on Martin Luther King Boulevard for loud music and nonfunctional taillights.

During the stop, the officer also noticed a duffel bag in the vehicle. A total of 425 discs containing 99 movies were packaged in sandwich bags in the duffel.

Belser said Banks would not give the officer information about himself and failed to obey commands. After a struggle, Banks was arrested on charges of criminal reproduction of recorded material or video, obstruction of a law enforcement officer, driving without a license, excessive noise and a taillight violation.

You know the more and I read these articles of a criminal being

stopped for stupid traffic issues, then consenting to being searched and loads of drugs or illegal materials found.

I should publish an Idiots Guide to being a Thug with a whole chapter on the DO's & DON'T's of Criminal Vehicle Operations.

They give consent because they think they're not doing anything wrong.

There's a guy who creeps

There's a guy who creeps around Clearwater after dark around Waffle House and Bi-Lo selling bootleg DVDs for 5 bucks with photocopied covers. Carries them in a messenger bag, walks with a cain and drives a white Corvette. Have reported him to the ACSO a couple times, but never does any good.

Plus...every flea market I've ever been to has these people selling DVDs. Immigration used to come raid the older flea market on 56 on a regular basis and pick up illegals who were there selling bootleg Tommy Hilfiger and Nike shirts. Didn't even look remotely like the real thing, but people bought it for some reason.

probable cause

After being stopped for loud music and tail light and noticing a duffle bag in the back does not warrent a search of the vehicle. The command and struggle was probably because he would not consent to a search of his vehicle. I don't condone this man bootlegging but I would not want my right to illegal search and seisure be violated either.
