A 19-year-old man is accused of impersonating a firefighter after pulling over a 16-year-old girl, Columbia County sheriff’s deputies say.

Alexis Hughes, of Appling, passed a slow Chevrolet Trailblazer on Louisville Road about 9 p.m. Thursday, according to an incident report, and the other vehicle sped up and turned on sirens and red lights in the grill and rear-view mirror.

When Hughes stopped, the SUV’s driver, Christian Jerome Lavarias approached and told her that she didn’t use her turn signal and almost cut him off. He waved a radio that read “Columbia County Fire” on the side and asked whether he needed to call the incident in, the report said.

Hughes said she had learned her lesson and drove to her mother, Chasity Hughes, who went to a nearby fire station and then contacted the sheriff’s office.

Lavarias was arrested Saturday and booked in the Columbia County Detention Center on charges of impersonating a firefighter and false imprisonment.

The sheriff’s office said similar incidents might have occurred to several other people.

Sounds like this guy has a mental problem. Hopefully his family will see he gets the treatment he needs before someone pops him during a illegal stop.

Impersonating Police is bad enough,

but Firemen.

Seems he likes young girls and not his 1st incident with the LAW involving a younger female.

Were they "playing" the fireman rescuing the young damsel in distress☺
