Mason Smith, who was being treated for head injuries at the Children’s Hospital of Georgia, was pronounced dead at 5:55 p.m., Bowen said. An autopsy is scheduled for early this week at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab in Atlanta.

Deputies were called to the hospital early Friday and spoke with the child’s mother, Katherine Smith, who said she had sent him to the corner of his room to discipline him, then later heard a “thud” and returned to find him on the floor. She told police that he suffered from a syndrome that causes him to hold his breath until he loses consciousness.

She was booked into the Charles B. Webster Detention Center on a charge of cruelty to children in the second degree, according to jail records. It wasn’t immediately known whether her charges will be upgraded.

and yet ANOTHER candidate for

and yet ANOTHER candidate for sterilization!! yeah, i know, the taxpayer would probably have to pay for all these sterilizations, but hey, look how much money we would save in the long run, when we don't have to support all these mamas and their little monkeys, through ebt cards, medical care, housing, free breakfast and lunch at school, phones, internet, 'caregiving', and all those perks for 18+ years....

MOM?
Unpublished

What the H is going on with the recent spate of poor childcare? Has it become the choice of getting rid of children by neglecting them? Has Casey Anthony's success as killing off her daughter without getting convicted of murder emboldened heartless people? Don't have them if you can't or won't take proper care of them.

Another good reason to

Another good reason to prosecute child neglect cases even when the child was lucky enough to live or be unharmed because of a good samaritan.

Some of these people eventually will do something else harmful to their child/children.
