Michael Davis, 24, was one of two men who escaped late Friday from the Grovetown Police Department Detention Center, according to police.

Michael Davis, 24, and Joshua Gray, 21, who escaped about 8:20 p.m., were caught Saturday morning in Richmond County as they attempted to check in at the Knights Inn on Boy Scout Road, Chief Gary Owens said.

The two escaped through a broken fence at the department’s temporary holding facility, he said, and made their way to the home of Gray’s mother, Malisa Self.

Self and Samuel Cline Jr. assisted the escapees by driving them to the hotel. Owens said both have been charged with aiding and abetting.

Davis and Gray were being held on misdemeanor probation offenses and were set to serve only a couple of days in the detention center. Now, both will be transferred to the Columbia County Detention Center on felony charges.

The broken fence has since been repaired, Owens said.

Good job by the LEO's on getting these two so fast. Send them to a higher security facility and tack on some more time.

Good work

They're back where they belong with maybe a little extra time time to be added on. We have enough of crooks out here already; we don't need these again.

If you put the intelligence

If you put the intelligence of the mother and the son together, they'd still be dumber than a sack of rocks.

I give this mother credit for

I give this mother credit for giving her son a decent name, as opposed to 5 of the 7 arrested for murder, as recently reported. But that is where credit stops.

Looking at the picture, his head does not appear to be "screwed on right," literally.

These two are so dumb they

These two are so dumb they deserve about 5 years in big boy prison. See if that wipes that smile off of his face. They can wear their earrings for the other men in the shower room in prison. They like pretty boys.

Chief Owens leadership by the "old saying"

"The horses have escaped from the barn, quickly shut the doors.
When did the light come on to fix the fence?
