The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is seeking participants for its Citizen Police Academy.

Several slots remain open for the 12-week course, which provides residents with a better understanding of the sheriff’s office’s structure and methods of law enforcement. Participants can spend time with law enforcement officials in all divisions and will participate in classes similar to those officers undergo at the police academy.

The class is scheduled to begin Sept. 2. Anyone interested in the class can contact Capt. Wendy George or Sgt. Michael Gilliland at (706) 821-1467.
