About 10:50 a.m., Richmond County deputies responded to 1909 Gordon Highway where they found victim Robert Knight with lacerations above his right eye and a swollen face, according to a report from the RCSO.

Knight said he was walking down the road when an unknown suspect jumped off his bicycle and began punching him in the face, the report stated.

The suspect stole Knight’s cell phone and fled the scene.

The victim was taken to Trinity Hospital, according to the report.

The suspect is described as a black male, 5-foot-8, 150 pounds in his early 20s.

Let's get this

criminal in jail and before a Judge ASAP, now! The sooner we get them behind bars maybe they will begin to learn crime is not tolerated and as we learned long ago, "Crime does not pay!"

Is no one safe, anywhere,

Is no one safe, anywhere, anytime? This would have been a good time for the pedestrian to pull his legal weapon out and make sure this sorry excuse for a human being doesn't assault anyone else.

Hoptoad, in response to your

Hoptoad, in response to your question is no one safe, anywhere, anytime- the answer is, no.

People, contact your commissioners and tell them to give more money to the sheriff's department! People are so concerned about stray dogs, when people aren't safe on the streets in broad daylight!

Leave the dogs out of it. They're a lot better than many of Augusta's animals committing crimes like this.

The sheriff's department does

The sheriff's department does need more resources to hire some bicycle and motorcycle deputies to patrol areas that are more easily accesible using cycles rather than autos.

Also, it might help if the patrol cars were more mobile instead of sitting in one spot to snag a speeder. Speeders need to be dealt with, but can just as easily be caught while the deputies are traveling the roads.

God bless our law enforement officers and keep them safe.

Shameful that the AC reports crime... I bet Kwatinetz would tell us this kind of action will surely be a deal breaker...

Meanwhile back at the jazz club....
