An Augusta mother has been charged after nurses said she had taped her 2-year-old son’s mouth shut to keep him quiet.

Georgia Regents University police were called to the hospital Sunday after a nurse entered a room where the boy was being treated and discovered his mouth “disfigured,” an incident report states.

The nurse told police the mother, Stephanie Nicole Harris, 21, of Second Avenue, admitted to putting tape over his mouth because he was making too much noise.

The nurse told officers she feared that the child, who has several medical conditions, could have aspirated. The report states the child is nonverbal but will moan.

The mother changed her story in a written statement, saying, “We was in the room playing around and I put tape on his mouth as a joke ... wasn’t harming him or anything.”

The nurse told officers the tape had been described as three pieces straight across, covering all parts of the mouth without any way for him to get air.

GRU officers took Harris into custody several hours later on charges of deprivation of a minor. She also was issued a criminal trespass warning that bans her from all GRU property.

@Pond Life

With autocorrect and auto punctuation, it's actually pretty hard NOT to use any capital letters or punctuation nowadays. You'd practically have to try and do it on purpose to construct a thought with no capital letters, or to put Countyman(n)'s customary double period at the end of every sentence..

It takes two to tangle - Noone mentioned castrating the men

Too much of today's population thinks that welfare, food stamps, Pell grants are 'free' and owed to them. It isn't free and certainly is not owed to anyone. This segment of free loaders spend more time filling out applications for a free life than they do filling out job applications. If you have never dealt with them - read CorgiMom's comments on this subject. She and the welfare lowlifes - feel that it's 'theirs' and they try to get all they can.

OCD: Some posters seem to have it.

Who has time to nitpick other posters' punctuation on an open forum? We aren't professional writers. Save your corrections for the journalists.

You are darned right I am

You are darned right I am going to complain about someone who makes no attempt to indicate where one sentence ends and another begins. Pure laziness.

eee-wheeee...I can't stand to be around an adult that can't get

thru a conversation without using cuss words. It's another sign of the deterioration of today's society. Where are your social skills? ...while nitpicking posters' typo's??....I'll try my best, in the future, to post some punctuation errors and sentences that run-on to feed your need.

Enough with the pleasantries

Embrace the mob! All of the parasitic vermin worthy of eradication should be subject to a day of reckoning! What about one day a year to dispose of some of this surplus trash? Let's embrace the madness!

@Stunned

If you consider "darned" a cuss word, then your skin is much too thin to stick around here.
