The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is seeking an unidentified man they say sexually assaulted a woman at knife-point Sunday.

The woman said that about 10 p.m., she was walking toward her apartment at the Madison on the Green complex when she was attacked, according to a sheriff’s office statement.

She broke away and made it back to her apartment, where she called 911.

The assailant is described as black, about 6 feet tall and 170 pounds, with shoulder-length dreadlocks. He wore red gym shorts, a white T-shirt and white shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to call Richmond County dispatchers at (706) 821-1080 and ask to speak to a violent-crimes investigator. Calls can be confidential.

if the person story is on the up and up

I hope they find the suspect quickly.

When Sex attackers start using weapons it means they are past the initial stages of groping their victims, and are willing to risk murder to satisfy they sexual fantasies & Urges.

More problems will come with of this, if the attacker had a weapon and is not caught soon.

Side Note:
The Ga Sex Offender map says we have 426 in ARC alone, and 77 in Columbia Co. Again Augusta leads the way. However, there is only 1 Black Male that meets the description within 3 miles listed in the Ga
Sex Offender database.

That's the apartments at 1011

That's the apartments at 1011 River Ridge Road off of Alexander Drive behind the Arby's and right across from Electrolux (which used to be Dillard's, and before that, J.B. White's Department Store). I moved out of there not long after the woman was abducted from J.B.White's parking lot and murdered. I prefer not to add more infamy to the murderer's name by writing it here.

Yep that's the apartment where I live

I love the pricing and the location of the apartment, but the cleanness of the environment, and now safety, is questionable.

In that case the jury did the right thing in sentencing that animal to death; but they had it overturned.

The truth is that no place is

The truth is that no place is safe from a rapist.

Women have been raped in their homes, at churches, at malls, at libraries. Parks, schools- everywhere.

It all comes down to being in the wrong place at the wrong time and crossing paths with a psycho.

And that sex offender map is useless- those are the ones that have been caught. It's the ones that haven't been caught, those are the ones to worry about.

What was the name of those

What was the name of those apartments in the 70s. They used to be really nice. Now, I would bet they are Section 8. Yep, crime is everywhere especially when you spread it throughout the city via Section 8 housing. Not saying though, this type of crime can't happen everywhere.

Those apartments were

Those apartments were Westside Apartments, seems to me Calcutta was one name...theyve been through so many remakes/remodels. There are some good folks in there, but they are getting outnumbered by thugs. Sure wish Augusta National would buy that property, like they did the old Savannah West nest.

nocnoc, the woman abducted

nocnoc, the woman abducted from J.B. White's at National Hills was Valerie White Newsome. I don't think she worked there. I did, though. Are you thinking of the later one at J.B. White's Regency Mall? Edited to add: It happened in 1980 (Newsome murder). Augusta Chronicle staff member Phil Flanders' sketch of the suspect helped lead to abductor's arrest.

If only she had a handgun she

If only she had a handgun she could protected herself and perhaps wounded or killed her assailant in self defense. See sometimes having a handgun is a good thing.

@Blizkit. And if she didn't kill him, shooting off his privates would eliminate future procreation from this slimeball.

@nocnoc. Good question. That was back in the very early 70s if I recall. Did he get the death penalty? Anybody have access to the AC archives?

I gathered that the name of

I gathered that the name of the JBWhite victim was omitted out of respect, perhaps not, but I don't think it was necessary to call her out. I agree-one is really not safe anywhere but you just hope and pray someone will not choose you to assault in such a horrible way. I'm all for defending yourself, but you have to know what you are doing or the weapon can be turned against you. Prayers to all involved.
