Bullets enter 2 Augusta homes early Saturday

  • Follow Crime & courts

At least two Augusta homes were damaged in a shooting early Saturday, but no one was harmed, police say.

Luther Jones, 62, said he heard several shots fired outside his home in the 1900 block of Second Avenue about 4 a.m., according to an incident report. Before calling 911, Jones said, he found a hole in the attic vent on the east side of his home.

Joanne Williams, who lives next door to Jones, said she heard the shots about 4 a.m. and rolled onto the floor. She told deputies a bullet came through her bedroom wall and came to a rest on the opposite side of her bed.

Police later found 33 shell casings in front of a home in the 1900 block of First Avenue. Most of the people in the area reported hearing the shots but did not see who carried out the shooting, the report said.

"Joanne Williams, who lives next door to Jones, said she heard the shots about 4 a.m. and rolled onto the floor."

She's apparently lived there a while and knows what to do.

It takes a real tough guy to kill a house. It would seem that several homes in Augusta have been slaughtered lately. 33 rounds and only a couple hit something as big as a house. I think these housing terrorists need some time on the range.

Riverman, yep, if you live in

Riverman, yep, if you live in low-income gang-infested housing, you sure do.

You aren't even safe in your own house.

But South Augusta, get ready, because it's coming.

The headline cracks me up.

The headline cracks me up. Did the bullets knock before entering? Well I guess the bullets did, through the wall or a window.
