About 3 p.m., deputies were called to the 1200 block of 12th Street, where the victim sustained a single wound to the leg, according to Richmond County sheriff’s Lt. Lewis Blanchard.

The man, who was not identified, was taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

A suspect has been taken into custody, Blanchard said, but charges had not been filed Friday night.

“We’re in the very early stages of the investigation,” Blanchard said. “Right now, we’re still trying to get as much information as we can.”

Well, for Countyman's sake, I'm so glad this event did not occur in the CBD.

Why don't the first three

Why don't the first three posters comment or making sarcastic remarks on the articles related to crime outside Richmond County? Why do they care more about the crime in RC compared to the county in which they reside?

The article related to the shooting in Aiken had two comments.. The poster above commented on the article, but made a sarcastic remark about the Chronicle reporting crime outside Richmond and nothing about Aiken County itself..

This happen in Bethlehem or Laney Walker and not East Augusta..

"This happen in Bethlehem or Laney Walker and not East Augusta.."

Heh, heh, heh.....Second bite. Sorry, Countyman, but that's East Richmond County. Just like there's a North Richmond County. I haven't told you the boundaries of East Richmond County yet. I'm still working on it.

"Why don't the first three posters comment or making sarcastic remarks on the articles related to crime outside Richmond County? Why do they care more about the crime in RC compared to the county in which they reside"

Why can't the poster of the above comment acknowledge the crime without going all Maytag? Why does the poster of the above comment try to deflect any and all mention of crime in ARC? Especially the CBD?
Why is the poster of the above comment so concerned with the facade of Camelot?

Sounds to me like said poster has an agenda of sorts...

(sarcastic remarks on the articles related to crime outside Richmond County?)

Sorry, can't make any sarcastic remarks of shootings from Columbia County. It only happens once or twice a year.................

So I feel sort of left out.

Obamacare in action

No, he has not been caught, because the guy that got shot won't talk. He will get FREE medical services and get back on the streets. He will obtain, if he doesn't already have one, a stolen gun and "get even". Then those of us that pay taxes will then pay for another round of hospital visits.

There is no deterrence to this kind of utter nonsense. None.

Augusta

It is and has always been: East Augusta, South Augusta and West Augusta. North Augusta is in South Carolina. Why is that so hard for some people.

Actually it was a safe area back in the late 60's and

into the latter part of the 70's (a year after may 11th, 1970)

The L-W neighborhood WAS a well-integrated, and was filled with three of Augusta’s historic minority populations and one of which was the most crime and problematic group in Augusta up to 1940's,
The Irish.

While some try to argue Segregation laws of the early part of the 1900's to the 50's turned it into what it is today. That excuse fails
to explain the last 50 years steady dwecline, now does it?

Even a former White Major found it safe enough to date his partner that lived in the area and for the others to walk around in the 60's and up to mid 70's? that I personally know of.

BTW:
The name wasn't Laney-Walker Blvd. then, it was Gwinnett St.
It was changed in the late 70's / very early 80's to give the the "current" ethnic group some feeling of false ownership.

False, since the community historically was a mixture Irish, Chinese, and African's up until the later 40's. Over 100 years..

Let me propose an idea

Recently the RCSO redrew the Precinct lines, as many have noted by the new AC Crime Map.

Could the NEW lines be used to show a false shift in Crime only because of the New Lines?

Could it be used to present the image / idea that Crime is dropping in certain business or politically sensitive areas ?

Could the crime and response statistics be skewed accordingly?

Inquiring Minds Wonder.

Laney Walker was safe until

Laney Walker was safe until crack cocaine came in, in the middle 80's.

After that, it became dangerous. And still is.

Funny how this area magically becomes part of The CBD when Cman wants to tout his Laney-Walker Disney Village homes..and then mysteriously disappears from The CBD when any crime is reported in the area.

Double standard!!!

The same few people that constantly portray they're looking out for RC taxpayers repeatedly bash the county.. Please inform the public how bashing RC is helping the property owners?

The boundaries of Laney Walker and the CBD are recognized by the federal government(national historic districts).. The same people repeatedly told me the CBD didn't exist in the past..

''Sorry, can't make any sarcastic remarks of shootings from Columbia County. It only happens once or twice a year................. So I feel sort of left out.''

There's definitely more than one or two shootings in Columbia County per year, but they don't make the news... I believe the county has probably averaged between 2/3 homicides lately..

East Richmond County

East Richmond County is more valid than North Richmond County which was brought up to take advantage of Costco. The consolidated county should be validated instead of an archaic "city" or "CBD" designation.
