Aiken County shooting suspect in custody

Dominique Roscelo Johnson surrendered to Aiken County sheriff's deputies Wednesday and will face charges of attempted murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime and unlawful carrying of a weapon, following a Tuesday shooting incident.

A 24-year-old suspect is in custody following a shooting Tuesday afternoon in Aiken County.

About 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, Dominique Roscelo Johnson surrendered to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office and was taken to the Aiken County Detention Center, according to Aiken County officials.

Johnson is accused of shooting another man in the left hip and fleeing in a Cadillac sedan. The shooting happened at about 3:43 p.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of Pine Street in Nicholson Village.

The victim, who was not identified by authorities, was taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center.

Johnson faces charges of attempted murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime and unlawful carrying of a weapon.

The victim told deputies he was in an argument with Johnson and was trying to walk away when Johnson shot him.
