Approximately 4 p.m., deputies responded to David’s Barber Shop at 837 East Boundary where victim Larry Williams, 52, had gone for help after being stabbed in the neck, according to Richmond County Sgt. Michael McDaniel in a news release.

Williams told deputies he was standing on the 700 block of East Boundary arguing with suspect Donald Bernard Hayes, 54, about a woman when a fight ensued.

During the altercation, Hayes is reported to have stabbed Williams in the neck, McDaniel stated in the release.

After being stabbed, Williams walked to David’s Barber Shop for help. Williams was transported to Georgia Regents Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening, according to the release.

Deputies converged on the area of Hall Street, Hale Street and East Boundary, and within a matter of minutes, McDaniel said, Hayes was taken into custody without incident in the rear of a home on Hale Street.

Hayes is being charged with aggravated assault, McDaniel confirmed.

Richmond County or Augusta?

I'm curious as to why some incidents are reported as occurring in Augusta and some in Richmond County? This was inside the old city limits yet was reported as being in Richmond County. Does the Chronicle have a policy about which is used or is it up to the reporter/editor?

@ Riverman

We don't have a written policy on this. We use Richmond County if have to differentiate between other CSRA counties, but other than that they are used interchangeably. In headlines we choose based on headline count - if we need more letters, we use Richmond County, if not we use Augusta.

Nothing better to do

at 4 in the afternoon but fight over a woman (who probably was at work).
More treatment at a hospital being paid for by the taxpayer.

Please folks....how about some impulse control.....

More racist assumptions...

Pops... How would you know if this was being paid at tax payer expense or that the woman in question was at work?

Where did he say something about race? One might conclude he was talking about Medicade paying for the bills. What infers race to say she was probably at work? I think you're trying too hard to play the race card based on what POPS said.

cparker, isn't it a

cparker, isn't it a socio-economic question, not a racist assumption? I think you just might have made a racist, or at least, prejudiced, assumption yourself, did you? Think about it. No one else mentioned anything about anyone's race or racism, but you.

No one brought race into the discussion until cparker did. Whyissit Parker, that anything negative said about a person that is not caucasian in pigment is automatically racist in the eyes of people such as you? Do you even understand what the word really means?
