An Augusta man was beaten and robbed by six unknown men near the T.W. Josey High School football stadium Thursday night, police say.

About 8 p.m., Martece Birckhead, 25, was leaving work when he was confronted by six black males on Essie McIntyre Boulevard, according to a Richmond County sheriff’s report.

According to the report, one of the men asked Birckhead for money. When Birckhead said he didn’t have any, another man brandished a handgun and demanded money.

The other five men began to kick and punch Birckhead until he fell to the ground. They took $45 from his wallet before fleeing toward Olive Road.

Deputies searched the area but were unable to find anybody that matched the description that the victim gave.

STRANGE

This happened 48 hours ago and is just hitting the media, does the SD really want to solve these crimes? If anyone saw anything suspicious it is unlikely they will report 2 days later.

+6 living the dream. May all

+6 living the dream.

May all 6 find an armed citizen with high capacity magazine, quick reflexes, and a tight shot group.

"The other five men began to kick and punch"

Proof positive that punks don't have to be armed for your life to be in danger. Shoot them all because you fear for your life. A strong arm robbery is just as much a threat to your life as an armed robbery.

As I Said Previously...

We are going to have to provide "eternal dirt naps" for a few of these, before the rest understand that they probably should find another profession.

Police should have a presence

Police should have a presence when people are leaving work down there. Coordinate with the businesses to learn their work hours, shift changes, etc. It's coming down to those who work versus those who don't.

We'll be hearing more about these thugs........
Unpublished

Emboldened by their successful mugging, they'll be back for more..........and more..........until finally they're caught. By that time, someone will probably have died at their hands, unfortunately.

That's how it is with these flatliners.

The victim should get his concealed carry permit and open up on them if this ever happens to him again. I carry every time I go into Augusta no matter what time of the day. Lock and Load!
