Fire damages Richmond County home

Authorities responded Monday evening to a house fire in Richmond County.

It took fire crew members around 20 minutes to contain a blaze at a Greene Street home Monday evening.

About 9:15 p.m., fire crews were called to 1856 Greene Street in regards to “fire shooting out of the back of the house,” according to Richmond County battalion chief Ivan Bolgia.

No injuries were reported and the fire took approximately 20 minutes to contain, Bolgia said.

“The house has pretty extensive damage, especially the back end,” Bolgia said.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
