According to an Aiken County Sheriff’s Office news release, employees said a car parked several times in the front of the business, which was parked near the intersection of U.S. Highway 1 and Belvedere Clearwater Road. The employee also observed a man, identified as James Antonio Frazier, 18, in the back seat with a red shirt wrapped around his face.

The driver, Vanessa Drummings, 20, walked inside. After she left the building, an employee locked the door and then saw Frazier walk from behind the business with the shirt over his face, police said. The couple drove away, but employees got the license plate number.

Aiken Department of Public Safety found the suspects and took them into custody after a traffic stop.

They were charged with attempted armed robbery. Frazier was also charged with unlawful carrying of a pistol by a convicted felon and mask wearing.

Editing fail: "employees said a car park several times" probably should be "parked"....

also: "Vanessa Drummings, 20, came into the visit." no idea about this one...maybe should be, "came into the visiting room"?? or came in to visit?

Oh Boy

Comedy of errors here! There is no Windsor jewelers in Beech Island, not on Jefferson Davis Hwy. Further, no part of Jefferson Davis Hwy is in Beech Island. This whole story is a joke, and the grammar is awful

Don't ever accept a police

Don't ever accept a police report as gospel. I've seen a lot of mistakes on them in past years. If you ever have to have a case # report, be sure to go pick up that report at the records dept. and check it for accuracy. Policemen are human beings; they can make mistakes in good faith. If it is incorrect, first try to reach the officer, if you can not reach the officer, or are not satisfied with his response, ask for a supervisor. I know of at least one instance in which the perpetrator was listed as the victim and vice versa. Another had a white person listed as black. Another had two persons names correctly listed, but personal information like phone, address, race were switched to the opposite (incorrect) person. These are public records, this could cause a lot of problems. Early in my days of reporting incidents, I found that they were even putting the social security numbers of individuals on the reports, I had to ask that they please black out that information, at least, when persons that needed copies of the reports picked them up, pointing out that this enabled the complainant's identity to be easily stolen, for instance, in retaliation for requesting a report.

SSN

Excellent catch, AutumnLeaves. Law enforcement agencies are slack when it comes to privacy. Several years ago my spouse was the victim of a crime involving credit card fraud. When reporting the crime, the officer asked for social security number. When spouse refused, the officer said, "Oh, we just need it for the filing system." They never got the social security number. I guess they just had to make up one.

Clarification ..

Many businesses in that area of Clearwater, and located on that side of Highway 1 (Jefferson Davis Highway) have a Beech Island address, which led to the confusion - along with the fact that the business was a mobile center. Hope that clears things up a bit.

If the business was a "mobile

If the business was a "mobile center, " why was that left out?

Not common knowledge ..

KSL the address split there in Clearwater is hardly common knowledge except for folks who live in the immediate area .. and I am not sure why the police report failed to mention the mobile status of the business .. the report simply stated that .. "The crime occurred at the Windsor Jewelers, 4367 Jefferson Davis Highway, Beech Island, SC."

LE question

How was this man charged with attempted armed robbery when he never approached the business personnel or tried to enter the business?

That didn't take long...

That didn't take long... Windsor Jewelers just bought that property not all that long ago. It used to be the muffler/auto/body/loan/we-buy-gold shop on the corner in Clearwater. Windsor bought it, painted the building(s) to match their gold buying RV's that they have in various places, and they leave one parked there now. I don't exactly understand why they just locked up the building, painted it and essentially use the place as a parking lot for their RV. Why there would be need for such a place from them in Clearwater is beyond me. Certainly didn't take long for them to draw the attention of the criminal element.

The Headline states "mobile

The Headline states "mobile jewelry center". Hardly confusing if you aren't anxious to criticize. Or did they replace the Headline?

Mask wearing...

...actually became a crime under certain circumstances in the post-Civil War 1800's as part of an effort to get rid of the Ku Klux Klan.

Clearwater location

While this location seems a little out of place to me, never forget that Donnie has the "Midas" touch.
There has to be a larger plan for this property.

Donnie does have the Midas

Donnie does have the Midas touch, but he also parks them at Aiken Mall and in the parking lot of Gerald Jones (one of his buddies) between Washington and Columbia roads. I don't see them having much bigger plans for any of those places really.
