About 2 a.m., Michael Taylor, 32, of Holden Drive, says he was walking near the intersection of Wrightsboro Road and Druid Park Avenue when an unidentified black man passed him and attempted to punch him, according to a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

After he ducked the punch, Taylor said, a struggle ensued. The suspect fled the scene, and Taylor later discovered that he had been stabbed by an unknown object in the right side of his back. The wound will require stitches, police say.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 30s with short hair. He’s about 6 feet tall and weighs about 180 pounds. Taylor said he doesn’t know the man or why the man wanted to fight him.

Not Wise

Anything less than a platoon of heavily armed Marines should avoid walking down those streets at 2 AM.

Most cities now days aren't safe to walk unarmed at night. Augusta sadly isn't any safer.
