According to Richmond County sheriff’s Capt. Calvin Chew, examinations determined the wound was inconsistent with a gunshot.

The man, David James Towns, was taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center with what were described as injuries that were not life-threatening.

Deputies were still investigating Wednesday night, and a suspect description had not been released.

Breaking News

I know the Chronicle wants to be first, but I think they should have waited on a few more details before publishing this thing masquerading as a story.

WRDW and WJBF reported it

WRDW and WJBF reported it too. If the shooter is loose in the neighborhood, don't you think people nearby should know?

What's wrong with reporting the news as it is? So long as they follow up, which they did.

I know inquiring minds want to know, but that police picked up a man believed to be shot in the head on Belair Rd is news.

information are given, not timed

Reporters only have information from public records......and public records were made by people, and people are prone to make mistakes/ corrections/ edits all the time...waiting for longer doesn't always means it's more accurate.
And also, the longer we wait, the less "newsworthy" it becomes.
