Two Australian men in town for the Masters Tournament say more than $4,350 worth of golf equipment was stolen from their rental car late Wednesday.

On Thursday, police met with Timothy Prest, 45, of Manly West, Australia, who told them that two sets of golf bags and clubs were stolen from their rented Dodge Grand Caravan, according to a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

Prest told police that he and Lindsay Alan, 55, of Mount Pleasant, Austrailia, were renting a home in the 1000 block of River Ridge Road for the week of the tournament, and that the van was locked at the time of the incident.

Also stolen was a Nikon camera valued at $200 and two watches worth more than $5,700.

Police found no damage to the vehicle except for a plastic part that attaches to the interior of the rear door, which was found in the rear passenger seat.

I wish

I was from a place named Manly South, Georgia! Might start a community with that name. And convince my near neighbors to start a community called Mount Pleasant. or Pleasant Valley, depending on the topography. Both have a nice ring to them, don't you think?

Why would anybody leave those

Why would anybody leave those kind of valuables in a car?

I get the part that in a perfect world, they should be able to, but in the real world, there are thieves everywhere.

Yep....let's blame the victims

of crime committed by the cockroaches that populate too many areas posing as "human".....they scope out homes with vehicles that look as though they may be rented by visitors and prey on them......

Well now that someone mentioned it....

Stupidity lends a lot, to people getting robbed, scammed, ripped off and burglarized.

The reason they would leave valuables in the van...
Unpublished

...is because they're foreigners who know Augusta only as the place where the most idyllic, picturesque golf course in the world is located. This is heaven to them. They see it on TV every year and it looks perfect. The crowds, the flowers, the course...........it's an oasis of perfection in a fallen world. What could possibly go wrong? Could there possibly be any evil in such a place?

Sadly, they now know that the answer to that question is in the affirmative.

I suspect these fine gentlemen from Australia are unaccustomed to the infestation we have of feral humans.
