A 50-year-old man was arrested Saturday after police say he attempted to enter Augusta National Golf Club in his vehicle.

About 8:40 p.m., Joseph John Murphy tried to enter the course via one of its gates, Sgt. Glen Rahn said. Murphy was advised that he was not permitted to enter the property and promptly left.

About 10 minutes later, Murphy returned in his vehicle and bypassed the security guard. He was stopped shortly thereafter by Richmond County deputies.

He was arrested on a charge of criminal trespass, Rahn said. Murphy is not a local resident.

Augusta National Golf Club sustained no property damage in the incident.

Thanks for your support

but I am out on bond now and will not be reentering the National. I thought my tickets said this Sunday. Should have looked at the date closer.

Well if he were a regular

Well if he were a regular Patron, (doubtful)...he will no longer be one. Nor will the person who loaned or sold him a ticket...not that he will get to use it. What a maroon....

An Act Of Love
Unpublished

According to Jeb Bush, entering the US illegally is an "act of love", so why isn't it the same thing when someone tries to enter the Augusta National? If only American borders were protected 10% as much as the golf course grounds we would ALL be much better off in OUR country.
