Rick Calloway, 19, is lucky to be alive and one day will be able to return to the community, Judge Sheryl B. Jolly told him during the sentencing hearing in Richmond County Superior Court. His cohorts weren’t so lucky.
Calloway pleaded guilty in connection with two holdups. Two other young men who took part in the robberies also decided on another job without Calloway. In that last robbery attempt their intended victim shot them in self-defense. On Dec. 28, 2012, Trezmaine Williams, 18, was killed and 19-year-old Dontavious Payne was wounded. Payne is facing charges of armed robbery and murder.
Once Calloway completes the prison term, he will have 10 years to serve on probation.
