Additional details released in arrest of Richmond County school teacher

  • Follow Crime & courts

Richmond County deputies received a tip about a Glenn Hills High School teacher having marijuana on school grounds and passed it on to school police, officials said Monday.

Chris Gordon was charged Friday with misdemeanor possession after authorities found less than an ounce of marijuana in his vehicle, according to Richmond County jail records.

Gordon, 30, of Grovetown, was arrested on school grounds, Richmond County Director of School Safety Alfonzo Williams said.

“The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office received intelligence (Friday) about (Gordon) possibly having drugs in his vehicle,” Williams said. “The sheriff’s office then passed their intelligence over to school safety and we handled it.”

Williams did not say who provided the intelligence.

The investigation is ongoing and no decision has been made on Gordon’s employment, Williams said.

School teachers get drunk

School teachers get drunk after school and on weekends--that's OK--but smoke a harmless plant and they should lose their job, get shamed in the newspaper and get put under the jail...What kind of society is this, anyway?

There's a standing offer of a $50k reward for anyone with information that leads to an arrest of GH-HS teacher. Whoever provided the tip could have gotten cash for college tuition if he had phoned in the tip via Crimestoppers first. If Mr. Gordon were to rat out anyone else he could probably get some money for bail.

Question Mr. Murphy

Could that lead to marijuana or other drugs being planted so someone can pick up the reward?

Gosh I wonder if the

Gosh I wonder if the "intelligence" was a vindictive student who set them up by planting the pot in his auto? Seems odd, even if a user, he would carry pot to work-is he stoned at work? If that were the case he could take a drug test and demonstrate he has no THC in his body if innocent. Gosh I hope that is the case, because how sad if your teacher is stoned out of their minds.

Dang two thumbs down for

Dang two thumbs down for "hope" the man isn't that stupid and a stoner teacher influencing our kids. I don't really cares what he does on his own time, but why would he have it in his car if not actively using it then. He must have been walking around reeking and stoned out of his mind-why did it take so long to find this out? I've seen that in college professors too that were obviously stoned or tripped out on coke, LSD, or amphetamine. Course they are still teaching.

Chris Gordon has been charged, not convicted. Innocent unless proven guilty. If someone planted that in his car, I hope they throw the book at him or her. If he is guilty, I hope he owns up to it and saves everyone a lot of trouble.

School police is an actual police force, [filtered word]T. Certified. They aren't glorified security officers with flashlights. They have arresting powers, like the sheriff's office and G.R.U.
